Photo session checklist

So you are just a few days ahead your big day and your senior session is around the corner, wohoo!! Let's make sure you are ready with this list of helpful tips.

Most important thing to remember:

  • The more relaxed you feel, the more genuine smiles and expressions will come out from you. Let your true personality shine through every pose, embrace your individuality and have fun! A positive attitude will shine through in your photos. Trust that you have chosen a professional photographer whose goal is to make you look your best. Rest assure I will capture your very best angles and I am here for you. This is your big day, so enjoy it!

Choose Your Outfits:

  • Bring a variety of outfits that represent your style and personality. It's better to bring more so you have a backup outfit in case of unexpected wardrobe malfunctions. Wear an outfit that won't wrinkle first, as sometimes certain outfits wrinkle just on the car ride to your session. Remember undergarments are just as important to match your outfits so they won't show. Please make sure you have nothing in your pockets, especially your cellphone or keys, they don't photograph well in your pockets!

Iron Clothes:

  • Make sure all your outfits are clean and wrinkle-free. Iron them the night before and bring them on hangers, rather than folded in a bag, to keep them wrinkle-free.

Hair and Makeup:

  • It might be handy to pack your hair brush and blotting paper but also:
  • Girls:
  • Whether you schedule a hair and makeup appointment or you do it yourself, I would suggest you to opt for natural makeup that enhances your beauty. Just remember that non shimmering makeup photographs best, and please avoid trying new hairstyles or makeup on the day of your session
  • Boys:
  • Trim your hair a few days before the session. Even if it is just a short trim it will help to style your hair better.
  • Use a bit of hair product to keep your hairstyle in place, especially in windy or humid days.

Nails:

  • Nails are important, as they may photograph close to your face, so you want them clean and well-groomed.

Props:

  • Pack any props that you planned for your photos, such as sports equipment, musical instruments, or items related to your hobbies. Be sure your props are clean, polished, and ready for use.

Accessories:

  • Bring accessories like jewelry, watches, hats and belts that coordinate with your outfits.

Shoes:

  • Make sure your shoes are clean and match your outfits, as well as bringing appropriate socks for each outfit if needed.

Timing:

  • Plan your route ahead of time considering packing your car, traffic and parking so you are ready for your session 15 minutes ahead.

Friends or Family:

  • Remember bringing an adult with you for support, assistance and would help you feel more relaxed and positive for your session.

Poses:

  • Think about poses you'd like to try, but also try your photographer's suggestions. You'll be surprised how some poses that seemed odd while shooting actually turn out great in photos, so trust the process ;)

Review with Photographer:

  • Feel free to discuss any specific ideas or preferences with me before the session, but also know that if you get some ideas while shooting, we may be able to try!

Weather Considerations:

  • Be mindful of the weather forecast and dress according to it, especially for outdoor session. You want to be comfortable!

Hydration and Snacks:

  • Bring water and snacks. For girls, I recommend to bring a straw to keep your lipstick in place.

Check the Contract:

  • Review and understand the terms and conditions in your photography contract.

Relax and Have Fun:

  • Senior pictures are meant to capture your personality and style, so relax and enjoy the process.
